Refreshment through dance

During my second year in ministry school I was with a team in Guatemala on a mission trip, and we visited a church out of town for a few days. Joya Flags had graciously offered me to borrow some of their swing flags for the trip, to use and to teach others. During one of the first services at this church, towards the end of worship the Lord asked me to kneel before a woman in the front row and continue to move the flag very simply as I knelt at her feet. I stayed there until worship ended, and discreetly made my way to my seat.

On our last day with the church we had a debrief time, during which this beautiful woman shared that she had been longing for rest and refreshment for a long time, and had been pressing through for a while in need of refreshment. She continued to share that on the aforementioned afternoon as I knelt before her and moved the flag she was being filled by God with exactly what she had asked for. The long needed rest and refreshment.

It’s incredible to think that such a simple act of obedience could yield such beautiful, and longed for fruit in someone sitting on the chair in front of me. A simple act of obedience that did seem awkward and potentially out of place, was an act of obedience that released what the person in front of me had been longing for and praying for for months.

This amazing God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, yet He finds new, beautiful and creative ways to release His love, power, truth… joy… refreshment. The goodness that He gives is endless, and He loves moving through His children. What’s God asking you to do today that may be completely out of the ordinary? Enjoy your Holy Spirit adventure! He is the absolute best partner you could (not even nearly) imagine.
